Meet the Zone Superintendents: Eric Hollinhead, Zone 4
Fulton County Schools (FCS) has appointed seven Zone Superintendents for the 2020-2021 school year. We have asked each of them to answer six questions so you can get to know them. We are sharing responses from Eric Hollinhead, Superintendent, Zone 4. Visit the Learning Zone 4 webpage.
Why did you become an educator and who inspires you most?
Education is the cornerstone of a democratic society. I believe the American Dream can be achieved through education. Those are the sentiments which inspired me to become an educator. As it relates to who inspires me the most; my two sons are the ones who consistently inspire me. I advocate for students in my zone, the same way I advocate for my own kids. When visiting classrooms, I always ask myself, “Is this a classroom I would want my own children in?” I want the best for the students in my zone, the same way I want the best for my sons.
What are your hopes as a Zone Superintendent?
My goal as a Zone Superintendent is to simply be a positive influence on the principals. If I can have a positive influence on improving the learning and teaching experience for kids, that will lead to improved outcomes for our primary customers: our students.
What's the top item on your bucket list?
Actually, my family and I are currently planning a multi-city tour of Europe. We hope to take this trip in the summer of 2022.
What are your hobbies?
I really enjoy fishing, golfing, and spending time with my family. I wish I had more time to do more of all the above.
What's the last song you added to your playlist?
“A Change is Gonna Come” by Sam Cooke
What's your favorite book?
In addition to the Bible, one of my all-time favorites books is “Roots,” by Alex Haley.
